Coming Home

from Wednesday, June 20th~

Julian is an old pro at flying

We are headed home today. Initially we thought we might end up staying a little longer, but after yesterday's discussion, we definitely are not. Not a great way to end a trip, but that's that. Jonathan came and met us for lunch before we headed to the airport. He somehow got the leg of a road-killed deer tangled up under his car. That provided some gross, but much needed comedy.

So now we're headed back home. It will probably be more than a year before we go back. Julian will be so much more mature. Grandpa will probably be gone. (He was not doing well today at all.) Things will be very changed.

Heritage

Monday, June 18th~

We went through so many pictures today! We were thrilled to find photos and links to our Scottish heritage. I never knew much about my great, great grandmother, but in so many photos, she's doing silly things and always smiling. I don't think she cared much about being age appropriate! You can tell she had a huge personality and loved life. I feel pleased to have her as an ancestor. Our family has very few truly serious photos- some are downright hilarious. I like that heritage of fun and playfulness! To add to the family happiness of the day, my parents have decided to give me the ring my grandmother left me. I didn't think I was going to get it any time soon, so I am thrilled! It's a nice ring, but even more important is that my grandmother wore it all the time so it's a meaningful tie to her.

Jonathan came over today too. He brought Blueberry with him, which was an unexpected treat. She's a great dog!

Pool Party

from Friday, June 15th~

We accepted a last minute invitation for Julian to go swimming with his cousins Sophia and Roman. They had a great time in and out of the pool! They really could not have played nicer. They all played in the sandbox for a long time and never needed any adult intervention.

Kate made a nice lunch for us all. (She is such a great mom. I really wish we lived closer. I know we'd be great friends!) Julian got a bit of sun and some new freckles. Kate gave the kids goody bags  and that kept Julian happy on the ride home.

Tonight we went to the Stockton Marina to eat at Jonathan's restaurant. As always, the food was terrific. My little brother can cook! He made the most amazing pizza our first night in Taneyville. After dinner, we wandered around the marina a bit and then called it a night.

Blessings

from Thursday, June 14th~

Mowing with Granpa

Mom and I continued the sorting process at the house. We did a whole closet and the linens and china cabinets. I don't think my grandmother ever thew out a card anyone gave or sent her! It's a very good reminder to me to be careful not to end up with the same habit. My "collector" nature comes to me through genes on both sides. That's a little scary!

In a little bit we'll pick up Jonathan from the airport. He drove Joy and the kids home to Texas. His plane had issues and had to land in Atlanta so he's delayed a bit. We're meeting dad for dinner while we wait.

Grandpa was pretty alert and with it today. He was mainly interested in getting back into bed for a nap, but we stalled him with some Coca Cola.

Back home, God gave us a little blessing. Jason got a very unexpected bonus at work. We've been really tight this month so the timing is amazing.
