Tribute to a Good Boy

From a few years ago at a spry 14 years old

My dear little buddy made an exit this week. He was advanced in age, deaf, blind, incontinent... and more. I wish he's passed peacefully in his sleep, but ultimately I had to have him put to sleep. It's the worst kind of decision.

Drago was a little bit of an accident. My roommate and I were out Christmas shopping and ended up taking a break by playing with some puppies for sale. The second I spotted puppy Drago, I was sure he was the cutest thing I'd ever seen. It was all just hair and two giant eyes. The breeder kept trying to get us interested in another from the litter, but we just knew Drago was the special one. He was shy at first and then gradually playful. For me it was love at first sight- the only time that's happened to me, btw. He was way over any budget we had, so we paid for him in installments. He was a great investment, for me any way!

Drago had wonderful energy, especially as a puppy. He loved everyone and would just bounce from lap to lap. Sadly, he was attacked by a German Shepherd and it dramatically altered his personality. He never stopped loving the ladies, but from then on, there were very few men he liked and he developed anxiety around most other dogs.

To his family, Drago's personality remained sweet. He was patient with both the kids and ever the little man of the house. He was a vigilant crumb catcher. When he wasn't searching for edibles, he liked to curl up at my feet. And that's how I will always remember him!

Happy Birthday, Puppy!

September 21st~ Happy birthday, Drago! My little buddy turns 12 approximately today. When I got him I was still finishing school. He was the cutest fluff of a puppy ever. It was love at first sight. He's been my furkid ever since. It hasn't always been smooth sailing; he's had terrible allergies from age 4+. He's been twice attacked by German Shepherds. He's also had some pretty significant eye injuries. He's had to weather a baby, then grabby toddler for a brother. Still, at this very moment, we've got the allergies better controlled, his eyes are healed, and his fur is thicker than it's been in years. Things are going well for the old boy. I remember people saying we'd get rid of him when we had a kid. Boy, were they wrong!

Eye of the Dog

July 25, 2012~

He's still a little squinty, but at least the green stuff is gone!

Drago's eyes are doing well! The one has a chronic condition, but the other is healing nicely. I also started a new skin treatment for him. Once we get the fleas totally under control, he will be rolling like an 8 year old!

Tonight is another party prep get together for out Tampa Bay Etsy Crew's Craft party in August. It's gonna be big! It was just fun to get out and be crafty with friends. And there was pizza. I was feeling that! I think we got a lot done. I got to decorate paper lanterns with garland and then attach butterflies to the bottoms. Think the Roosevelt's going to look fabulous! As much as we got done, I think we'll end up having another prep night- so much needs finishing touches.

Frustrated or Happy

July 24, 2012~
Tried to photograph some of the jewelry I brought home, but it was just too dark inside and too rainy outside to get clear photos. Boo.....

While it's still hot and dark, today is a little more restful. I'm almost caught up with getting my Etsy shops back in order. The house has been tided some. I finished a jewelry commission last night. Drago's got a check up in the morning.  My friend Faith called yesterday and we had a nice conversation. I'm feeling almost normal again.
When the light broke, I have to admit I felt defeated and just at the end of my rope. I think God sent me a thought. It was that I had a choice to either get angry about how rundown I think the house is getting or I can relax and have fun picking out some new fixtures. I chose the later. It's funny because one of the first things we said we'd do to the house was replace the gaudy living room light and fan. And then it kind of grew on us. And then the light pull broke and we had to unscrew the light bulbs every night to turn it off. And then it crackled and popped and died entirely yesterday.
I absolutely love the light I found and I also ordered a light/fan for Julian's room. His fan has been broken for years. I got a good deal and we have 6 months, interest-free to pay them off anyway. I feel happy, not frustrated.

Welcome Home, Now Deal With It!

Monday, July 23, 2012~

Noticed this guy on my car today- kinda feeling the same way!

And we are definitely back. Today reality hits. Drago has some serious issues with his eyes while we were gone. We still don't have functioning air conditioning in the main part of the house. The TV is broken. Then the main light in the living room blew out and we're sitting in a hot, humid, dark house. I've got 16 orders to ship. I've got 2 dinners to shop for and cook. At least I unpacked yesterday.

Lu-dicrous

from Friday, July 6th~
Before you ask... she's a Schnoodle. Her breath is the poodle part, her nervous energy is the schnauzer part!

Hey Lucy you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind! Hey Lucy... Okay, not really, but compared to Drago's gross balding back, missing teeth, and saggy chicken chest, Lucy's looking pretty cute. We hung out today. She keeps it real. Think I'm going to use her bathtub and finish Scar Tissue tonight.
