The Goodbye's Start Again

Friday, July 20th~

Joy, Daniel and the kids took off early this morning. It's too quiet without them. We're all feeling a little sad because, after this weekend, we'll all be separated again for probably a year. We have all chosen different paths and they do not cross as often as we'd like. For a little distraction and just to get out of the house, we went into Branson and caught another Imax movie and had dinner. Mom wanted to get Julian a little something for school so we went to Target on our way home. It wasn't that hard to talk him out of the sparkly beret and sunglasses when he saw an Adventure Time t-shirt.

Commodities, Cousin-style

Thursday, July 19th~

Is it time to get out of the pork bellies, Juju?
Grandpa, says yes! Sell, Christian, sell!

My brother-in-law comes in tonight. The kids were pretty laid back today. Joy tackled the last big closet and mom started packing up some of the nicer dishes. I sort of bounced in between the two. And I kept going through all those magazines!

3 Amigos

Monday, July 16th~

Bedtime story with Grandma was probably the kids' favorite time of the day

Today we started going through things again. It's a bit of a challenge to do all this and also keep an eye on kiddos. They can play nicely, but they're loud and still have to monitored. Julian can be a bit aggressive when the younger kids do something he doesn't like. He thinks smothering is an acceptable form of conflict resolution- not good! We have to work on that before school starts.

Pool Party

from Friday, June 15th~

We accepted a last minute invitation for Julian to go swimming with his cousins Sophia and Roman. They had a great time in and out of the pool! They really could not have played nicer. They all played in the sandbox for a long time and never needed any adult intervention.

Kate made a nice lunch for us all. (She is such a great mom. I really wish we lived closer. I know we'd be great friends!) Julian got a bit of sun and some new freckles. Kate gave the kids goody bags  and that kept Julian happy on the ride home.

Tonight we went to the Stockton Marina to eat at Jonathan's restaurant. As always, the food was terrific. My little brother can cook! He made the most amazing pizza our first night in Taneyville. After dinner, we wandered around the marina a bit and then called it a night.

Breakfast Bunch

Tuesday, June 12, 2012~

Had breakfast with a bunch of Julian's cousins. Loved it! (I hope someone took pictures because I totally forgot to.) I think in another year, they'll all be fast friends. As it is now, some little squabbles break out (if you take something out of Julian's hands, you are going to get smacked! I don't want him hitting, but I also don't want him to allow himself to be a victim. He knows not to hit little kids, but if it's a kid his age, he is not afraid to engage. Figuring out how to find the balance...) and most of them are still pretty independent players. I was just pleased to see my cousins, aunts, uncle and brother.

Made It

Monday, June 11~

We made it to Missouri! After a delay and some of the worst turbulence I've ever experiences, it felt like an accomplishment to walk out of the Springfield airport! We're spending the night in Bolivar with my mom, Joy and her kids. Felt a little like we were crashing a party, but the cousins are happy to see each other.
Grandpa Y is not nearly as clear, mentally, as he was in December. His reactions are much slower and he sleeps much of the day. Bridget, on the other hand, is still a spry old gal!
