Home Sweet Home

Sunday, July 22nd~

We're back. The flight home was nice and uneventful... until we hit the Florida coast! We flew into some pretty intense thunderclouds. The lightning was beautiful from our viewpoint, but it was also a little disconcerting. We actually landed ahead of schedule, but then had to sit on the runway for quite sometime as none of the ground crew could come out to help the planes at the gates. We were so happy to see Jason when we finally got off that plane!

Passed

July 11~

My grandfather peacefully passed  last night. Only my dad was with him, which was as it should be somehow. There's a relief amidst the sadness because it was terrible for grandpa to be without my grandma and he doesn't have to be any more. I cried all morning because I knew when we got to Missouri, I'd need to keep it together.
We had a pretty big delay that- for once- wasn't Allegiant's fault. As we were pulling out to the runway, this huge lightning storm hit. We couldn't go back to the gate and we definitely couldn't take off so we sat in the plane for almost 2 hours. Of course, Allegiant wasn't going to offer water or anything to make the wait easier. Still, Julian and I entertained each other and the people across the row too. For such a long time on the plane, he did very well. He's quite the traveler!

This was at the one hour waiting point- still smiling. The older lady in the background was his "best girl" by the time we got to Springfield!

Sleep

Saturday, June 30, 2012~

Daddy brought home a huge cookie for Juju

I think I could have just stayed in bed today and slept the day away. But we needed to clean up all the storm debris and there's a kid to take care of so I had to get up. Those of you who can still sleep half a Saturday away, enjoy it!

PS- Jason's always up before me so I can't even really complain!

After the Storm

Monday, June 25, 2012~
Very thankful our trees don't have thick canopies this time of year!

Everything was cancelled today on account of Tropical Storm Debby, but it seems like we're through the worst of it. Every once in awhile a good gust will still come through though. In a day or two our backyard will be every shade of green you can imagine. I love that!

Debby

Back step view

I woke up this morning to what I thought was a typical Florida downpour. Somehow I hadn't watched any news since before we left on our trip, so I had no idea we were getting hit by a tropical storm. It even has a name: Debby. And, through the day, she has grown into a real... witch of a storm. Our group we usually go to Sunday evenings has been cancelled so we're just going to hole up the rest of the day. At this point, it wouldn't be safe to be out driving around anyway. At least we still have power and are not in a flood zone!
