Thai Textile

Muhn-day!!! (Sep 10, 2012)- I felt that photographing a photography exhibit was plagiarist somehow so I didn't take any pictures of the most interesting part of my day. What was the second most interesting part? There wasn't one. I'm ready for a trip. I got this vintage Thai textile when I was there in 2005. I have a much larger piece in Julian's room, so I'm selling this one. I don't have a good place to put it.

PS- Read Psalms 121 this morning. It's too beautiful not to share!

 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
    where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.
 He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
 the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.

Death & Politics

Friday, August 31, 2012~

Darn it, my camera broke. I had an excellent evening with girlfriends discussing politics and death whilst crafting. But you're not going to see photos of that. I've got no option but to post photos of the stuff I listed in my Etsy shop this morning. That's still good though, right? They're fun and kitschy!

Book Burning

July 18th~

Believe it or not, this is the after photo. There was just stuff piled and stacked on all the shelves.

   Shall I lead in with another... "cleaning and sorting continues"? 'Cause it has. Whilst cleaning out the bookshelf, I stumbled upon a ton of magazines dating from 1983-1996. Joy and I have had fun looking through them. The hair, the clothes, the home decor, the celebrity marriages... what a cheesy time!
I have to say I did enjoy adding certain kinds of books to the burn pile: the crazy diet books, the get-rich-quick books, the rock-and-roll-will-make-you-kill-your-family books, the eminent apocalypse books... Now I am a book lover so I probably kept more than I should have, but that really couldn't be helped! Also the family photos had to stay. Can you spot me and Jason's tiny engagement portrait? =p

TBEC Pre-Party Prep Night

Makin' friends, learning about the letter L
So that's the picture of the day.^ ^

Last night our TBEC group got together at Tampa Upcycle to work on the decorations for the big party in August. It was fun. Someone donated a ton of old orange grove posters and advertisements. The maps for our original idea never materialized, so it just seemed like our theme came to us. Anyway, it's always good to meet fellow Etsians, especially Crew members!

Altered Archeology- TBEC Member of the Week

Monday, May 7th~

We had such a nice morning at the park today. It was shady, breezy and a lot of good friends turned up. I hope every Monday in May is the same way!
So as El Capitan of the Tampa Bay Etsy Crew, I get to showcase our Member of the Week. This week it's Jessica at Altered Archeology! Jessica is native to the Tampa Bay area and currently lives down by Indian Rocks Beach. Her shop is delightful mix of vintage finds, assembled art pieces and jewelry. Check it out at www.etsy.com/shop/AlteredArcheology. Her product photos are terrific too and we can all learn from that!

Here are my picks from her shop:

Too Much of the Juj?

Monday, March 19th~
He has scabby knees & elbows from some tumbles he took yesterday. Think he's grown again & is a bit off balance!

   Do I post too many Juju photos? I'm not good about taking pictures that reflect the highlight of my day. That's what I want to do for this photo-a-day challenge. When I'm in the middle of something though, the last thing I want to do is whip out my camera and start snapping. Some people are great and totally unselfconscious about doing that. I'm not one of those people. I even get embarrassed of using my phone to take pictures.

   Julian likes having his photo taken though. He and I are together all day long so photos of him do represent my average day. It's going to be very strange in the fall when he starts doing half days at school. I already miss him a little bit. Having mornings relatively free is going to be nice. Still, I want to hold on to every day. Time is going so quickly now.

PS- If you haven't made it over there yet, do check out my hubby's blog. He likes doing product reviews. =)
