What a Find!

I love a good thrift store find. They are getting very rare for me though. Mostly because I haven't even gone to a thrift store in months- also because a lot more people are thrifting so the pickings are slim. I didn't plan to stop this morning, but I thought I might find another pair of uniform pants or shorts for Julian. In my calculations, I didn't factor in that he'd need a set of "accident" clothes. I ended up at a store that I don't even like that much. They price everything in anticipation of the one day a month when it's all half off. Anyway, I did find a pair of suitable pants for Juju and then a pair of shoes caught my eye. I have little feet and I can wear kids sizes. These fit perfectly! (I know, I know, thrift store shoes- ick, BUT for the right shoe, you can always throw in insoles and they're fine.) Here's my find:

Love the hand embroidering!

The last photo was artistic, this is a better view! They have hand stitched rag soles too.

It's All Roses

I listed a few vintage art pieces in my Etsy shop today. It's the first stuff I've listed since before May. It's still hard to do with Jane needing so much attention. Still, I was happy to just be back at it. One of things I listed is a needlework rose piece. There's something Victorian about it. Roses have that classic beauty that just exudes romance no matter what century or culture is portraying them. Here's a few picks from my shop and a few other favorites from Etsy. You can click on the caption to go to their listings.

Just Because Roses

Chalk effect, and there was more than one rose!

I got "just because" roses from hubby! It's been a while and it really caught me off guard. After the roses, there was dish washing! Guess someone is enjoying the Dinner Done entrees I put together. =) (Meals aside, he's just really a sweet and thoughtful hubby!)

I thought this Bright Lines effect was interesting too.

May Day

May 1st~

My mixed flower bouquet =p

Does anyone still celebrate May Day? Just wondering... I know my aunt has talked about it, but I've never been part off any celebration of it. I guess children would make baskets filled with flowers or treats called May baskets. They'd leave one on someone's doorstep and knock on the door and runs away. The person receiving the basket tries to catch the giver. If they do, they give them a kiss! It's cute. Maybe we'll do this with Julian some day. Jason got me a basket but didn't try too hard to get away...

J brought me this gorgeous bouquet today.

11 years ago today was the first real date of my relationship with my husband. I think we just knew this was It. All these years later and now we're parents and have this amazing life.  It's not that things have been super easy for us- the end of this last year was excruciating on many levels. We've both changed and grown over the years, but in ways that compliment each other. I feel like we've got this great balance of being friends, lovers, partners, comedy writers... I love that we find the same things funny!  I just know that on that first date, eating fondue and drinking chocolate martinis, I had no idea how awesome that awkward guy sitting across from me truly was.
