Thanksgiving

I've abandoned my photo-of-the-Day quest. Life just got too crazy and now I'm 2 months behind, so I'm allowing myself to let it go. I'll backtrack a little since I didn't post in November at all. We went up to the country house in north Georgia for Thanksgiving. I just needed a break after a non-stop schedule and all the events I ran. It was a great trip and it really helped me regain some energy and focus before coming home to the Christmas selling and craft show season. The weekend after Thanksgiving, instead of shopping, we drove over to Greenville and spent a few days with some good friends. We took the kids to the zoo and then got a sitter for the evening. We had an extraordinary dinner at American Grocery, a farm-to-table style restaurant, and then went and saw Million Dollar Quartet- The Musical. Here's some photos:

Julian invented a game with the random stuff he found in the shed.

He kept changing the rules so much of it was just running around.

Book Talk

Wednesday, April 18, 2012~

Let's be all about books today. I love books. I've got shelves of them and if I hadn't a smallish house, I would have thousands. I prefer hardback and large print- big books. I like just about any genre, but if I had to choose favorites, I would say autobiographies and historical fictions. Although, I do also like series I can get lost in like Harry Potter and The Chronicles of Narnia.

Some of you know that I am affectionately (I hope) referred to as El Capitan of the Tampa Bay Etsy Crew. I get to pick a member each week to be highlighted in our group. This week it was a fellow blogger that I happen to follow on here- MaryFaithPeace. Here are some of the great things she has in her shop:

Wicked

from Sunday,  April 15, 2012~

I finally saw WICKED this weekend!!!!!!! I've wanted to see it for years and it never worked out. Last month a friend asked me if I wanted to drive down to Fort Myers to see it. So this past Sunday we went 2 1/2 hours early and put our names in the lottery for a pair $25 tickets. They're usually $90, so that's a good discount. They only pick 10 names and a lot more than 10 people turned out for the drawing. My name was chosen 3rd. My friend's name was chosen second to last so we had an extra pair that we gave to a couple that was standing next to us. They were so excited they asked to take us out for coffee. They were really interesting people so we quickly killed the time between the lottery and the show. Our seats were in the orchestra pit- 3 rows from the stage. The pacing, the music, the special effects, the characters... it was an amazing show!

Fail

Thursday, March 22nd~

So I went back to my alma mater tonight to see a production. I geek out for musical theater so I'll get it where I can. Alumni discount, please! When I was in college, it seemed like we had amazing productions. That could be because I was involved and knew the other people involved. The production tonight... I've seen high school plays that were on par with it. The vocals were great but the acting and stage design and pacing made it a very confusing play. If I were not familiar with the book it's based on, I would have been totally lost. So that was a little disappointing.  I seldom go on campus, but when I do, it just makes me miss my old buddies. There are a lot of "ghosts" for me there.
