Pinellas Places Parents Shouldn't Miss!

One of the denizens of the Children's Wing

I feel so lucky to live in an area that has a lot of things to do, especially since so many of those things are for families. The Mommy & Me group from my church has spent Monday mornings this summer down in Largo. We meet at the wonderful Largo Central Park and then when it gets too warm (or the gobs of day cares turn up), we head to the library across the street. They have a children's wing that is really fantastic. The kids aren't shushed constantly and there is a nice play area for the younger lot. Julian's getting a bit big for it so he's now on the computers playing games. When Jane's old enough, we'll start doing some of the library's fun mid-morning kid programs. Define Art

from Saturday, May 12, 2012~

The updating will never end... I guess that's the reality of online sales. Most of my stock is from last fall and the beginning of this year. I did make a few necklaces for the show the other week. I'm finding that listing, promoting and photographing is taking so much time that I'm just not getting in the creative mood as often. It's like the computer is sucking it all away. I'm one of those people that when the mood strikes me, I'm like a whirlwind and I get a huge amount done in an almost manic way. If I'm not feeling it though... I can redo the same necklace several times and never be pleased and end up taking it apart entirely.
I know to a lot of people beading is not true art. And as much as I hate that idea, I often think it. I'm not making the beads- I'm assembling another person's work into something else. I tend to think of art as tangible creativity so in that way bead work does qualify. I think the artistry comes in having an eye for color, texture and pattern. I see myself as a curator or concept designer pointing people in the direction of artful living. Anyway, it does take energy and vision and inspiration.

The Day After

Monday, April 9, 2012~

My furry friend loves just sitting in the sun. He is old, but contrary to this photo, he is not a ghost yet!

Such a beautiful day today! I just want to go sit in the sun and snooze. It is also a Monday though, so I have lots to catch up on. Some where along the way I unofficially decided that Sundays needed to be offline days so I don't even touch the computer. That means Mondays are always days I have to answer emails and make sure my Etsy and eBay shops are good and print and ship orders. Then I have to restore the house to pre-weekend order. Still, I am not complaining because I am here with my little boy and old doggie and not in a cubicle!
