Baby Jane is here!

Last Sunday, Mother's Day, I got quite a surprise when my water unexpectedly broke early and started Jane's entry into the world. She was born that night and weighed in at 9 lbs, 3 oz. She's tall like her brother- at almost 22 inches.

Julian's still figuring out the big brother thing

She's 1 week old today!

Fuchsia and Navy

Saturday, June 23rd~

Prior to Mother's Day, I had a client mention they'd like a necklace with fuchsia and navy in it for their mom. She said she'd call me closer to the time. Based on that, I went out and got supplies. I didn't hear back from her and, well, Mother's Day has come and gone. This isn't unusual and I shouldn't have jumped the gun and bought stuff before it was a sure thing.

I spend a good chunk of this afternoon doing research on some vintage items I need to list in TheRicharmedLife shop. I couldn't find useful info and a couple of things ended up being pretty worthless. It was a little discouraging. After that, I felt the need to create. So I dug out a pendant I've had for a while and paired it with beads from the commission that didn't happen. Turned out nice, I think. Maybe my customer will want it for a Christmas gift!

Mother's Day! We kept busy. I still missed my mom though! Although it's a day to honor moms, it's not a day that moms to get any sort of break. That would be a true holiday! I can't complain though. We had a fun family lunch and then spent the evening poolside with friends. The guys grilled so that was nice. The pool was good, but I'm craving the beach. I think I need to get there this week. I'm a water girl- always have been, always will be. I think if I could spend a Mother's Day any way I wanted to, it would have to end with a sunset on the beach.

Anyway, being a mom is great and I'm very, very happy for the opportunity. Being a parent is very eye-opening. You have to wise up and get your priorities straight. You understand love on such a different level. It changes you in many ways. Even after all the changes, you find yourself constantly wondering if you're doing things right and well!

Mother's Day Surprise

Friday, May 11, 2012~

Jason planned a Mother's Day surprise for me this evening. First he took me to my favorite Thai place, Chiang Mai. (I just so happened to have a Groupon there so that was nice too.) It's got a nice ambiance for date night conversation and the food is really good!
After that we strolled down to The Capitol Theater (which use to be the Royalty. It's one of Clearwater's few historic buildings not taken over by the $cientology cult). Earlier Jason had purchased tickets to see Ferris Bueller's Day Off. It was a great surprise. He even thought to pick up snacks for the show.
I was pretty young when that movie came out so I hadn't seen it in the theater. Somehow it's funnier when you watch it with a bunch of strangers. There was also a guy who reminded me of the brother in Something About Mary, a special needs fellow. He was unintentionally saying the funniest things loud enough for the whole theater to hear. It was kind of awesome.
