Planning

I'm a person of time lines.  I like having a game plan in 5 year increments. Sometimes it's logical things, other times it's personal goals, or even a wish list. I wanted to get married at 25, start having kids at 30, having 2-4 kids by 35, and own my home by 50. The first two things happened right on schedule. I never really asked God if these ideas would align with His plan for my life. It isn't that I didn't want His input, in fact I assumed His support of my time frames.

We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps. -Proverbs 16:9

I forgot, or ignored, this verse along the way. I think when my plans got altered I forgot that my plans were never set in stone to begin with. Earlier in Proverbs 16, in verse 3, it says Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.   Right now, I can say with certainty that I have no idea what the next 5 years holds for me- I don't even know what this year holds. But that leaves me wide open to whatever God's plan is for me, so that's okay. Better than okay, it's great to know that as long as I'm seeking and trusting God's guidance for my actions, big and small, I've got the Master Planner shaping my future and not just the next 5 years.

I think I'm having my own trouble with timelines right now, so I understand. :/
